Let's start with what I can do for you ...
As a seasoned professional, I can call upon many years of experience of working with innumerable clients on projects large and small all over the world. This means I know how to take the stress out of planning an event and how to make sure everything runs like clockwork on the day. Although every new situation can and does occasionally spring new surprises, I minimise these by planning ahead, but I am also used to 'thinking on my feet' and getting things sorted as they arise on site.
Many potential problems can be avoided simply by knowing the pitfalls and planning accordingly. For instance, carrying out an advance site visit, liaising in detail with the venue and choosing the best technical solution to suit. On the software front, there is no substitute for checking and double-checking, never leaving anything to chance. Fortunately, being well prepared and always expecting the unexpected seem to be natural gifts of mine. This has led to my being accused of cynicism, but my 'realistic' approach (as I prefer to call it) has served me and my clients well on countless occasions.
You can give me your presentation brief or your PowerPoint outline and let me transform it into something which you will feel confident in using and which will make a truly memorable impact on your audience. By making use of my creative flair, skill with PowerPoint, PhotoShop, Flash, Premiere and a host of other clever little utilities, I can inject real sparkle into the finished product. Files can, of course, be made fully interactive and can integrate video and audio as required. Finally, I can supply all the necessary equipment and operate it on the day to ensure a seamless process from start to finish.
The advantage to you, of course, is that if you have confidence in your material and in the technical support, you will be free to concentrate on your own performance. This 'no worries' approach to a/v support (as some of my antipodean clients might say) can seem to work against me, but in some ways the best accollades I can hope for are those like 'we didn't even notice you were there' or 'you don't seem to do anything!' By my thinking, though, this is how my role should be - blending into the background whilst ensuring that your attention is on your audience, and theirs is on you.
Modern technology means there's no problem communicating with and working for clients anywhere in the world and although I am based in Hertfordshire, I travel regularly throughout the UK and internationally, as can be seen from some of my testimonials.
So, what are my credentials?
Well, I started out as a Recording Engineer, working with such greats as The Sweet, Mud and Suzi Quatro, on whose single, 'Devil Gate Drive', I also provided the sound effects courtesy of my Norton Commando motorcycle! Japan's first LP (remember LP's?) was also my handiwork as were many other records. I also made location recordings in the Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, The Purcell Rooms, York Minster, Fairfield Halls Croydon etc.
When the local radio stations started to come on stream in the UK, I started to specialise in recording the spoken word for commercials, audio-visual presentations, drama productions and language training courses . Although I have long since left the recording industry, I still keep my hand in by assisting an ex-colleague with location recordings of military bands, Christmas spectaculars and even the Trooping of the Colour ceremony.
After 15 years in studio and location recording, I moved on to the broader field of Conference & Video Production. During my 13 years as Production and Technical Director of London-based RM Communications I worked on events of all descriptions - product launches, sales conferences, seminars, awards ceremonies, video shoots etc. all over the UK and abroad. Our client list was extensive and ranged from Allied Domecq to Woolworths and Akzo Nobel to Wrigleys. I also designed, built and ran two in-house video edit suites and a video duplication facility and administered the computer network.
In 2002 I struck out on my own and set up an independent conference and a/v support and consultancy service. Unlike most individuals in this field, I combine extensive practical experience with broad technical
knowledge and ability, artistic flair and excellent organisational and soft skills. In addition, I maintain and operate my own stock of Sound, Computer, Video and Projection equipment so as to provide a complete one-stop solution to many of my clients' presentation needs.
My reputation for reliability, creativity and for 'making things happen' when it matters most and under the most testing of conditions ensures that I am in demand both in the UK and further afield, as is borne out by my testimonials. Some of my more recent projects have included extensive European roadshows and a series of UK seminars and showcases for the Royal Bank of Scotland. Also management retreats for various international clients in locations including Boston, Dubai, Hilton Head Island, Palm Springs, San Antonio, Santa Fe, Scottsdale, Vancouver and Whistler and conferences in Marrakech and Phuket. At all these events I was responsible for supporting teams of international business consultants, coordinating, designing and producing all the software, creating emotive souvenir presentations and/or videos, providing hardware and, of course, technical operation throughout. Being fluent in German and having a good working knowledge of French and a smattering of other languages also comes in handy.
That, in a nutshell, is how I come to be doing what I do today.
If you think my skills or services could be of use to you I would be delighted to hear from you.
